ADMISSION BY UBE SCORE TRANSFER, GENERALLY
Applicants seeking to transfer their UBE score to the Virgin Islands are required to file an application for Admission by UBE Score Transfer, Generally, in accordance with VISCR 204(g)(1) and pay the required fees.
Applicants must have a valid UBE transfer score at the time of application. UBE transfer applicants are required to submit a completed application at any time and all fees.
Requirements for UBE Transfer
An applicant who elects to apply for admission to the Virgin Islands Bar using a UBE score transferred from another UBE jurisdiction, may do so, provided that: (i) the score attained on the UBE meets or exceeds 266; (ii) no more than three years have passed since the applicant sat for the administration of the UBE for which the qualifying UBE score was attained; and (iii) the applicant meets all other application requirements set forth in this Rule 204, including holding a J.D. or LL.B. degree from a law school approved by the American Bar Association at the time the applicant matriculated or graduated.
The Virgin Islands only accepts official UBE score transcripts in their entirety.
Additionally, to be eligible for admissions an applicant must: (i) Obtain a scaled score of 75 or higher on the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE); (ii) Pass the Virgin Islands Law Component (VILC), (iii) and undergo a Character Examination and Personal Interview.
National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE) Request for Preparation of a Character Report
An applicant must complete the online version of the National Conference of Bar Examiners Character and Fitness Report Application at http://www.ncbex.org/character-and-fitness/.
- Log into or create an NCBE Account to complete the NCBE online application.
- After you complete and finalize the NCBE online application, a checklist will display with access to a PDF of your application and additional instruction for signatures and mailing.
- The entire NCBE application must be electronically filed with the Office of Bar Admissions within twenty-four (24) hours of the acceptance of electronic filing of your Virgin Islands Bar Admission Application.
- The original executed hard copy of the documents must also be conventionally filed with the Office of Bar Admissions within seven (7) days of the electronic submission of the e-document.
